Lefties of the world are often at a disadvantage when it comes to common products. From scissors that don’t cut and pens that don’t write, to spiral notebooks that leave indentions in your arm and mice that no longer work intuitively once they’re moved to the left side of the desk, left-handed people are stuck searching for a comfortable solution for everyday tasks that everyone else takes for granted. You’re faced with the choice of paying a premium price for special products designed for left-handed users, or finding ways to deal with uncomfortable and inconvenient products.

Finding a good ergonomic mouse can be especially frustrating, since the shapes that allow your hand to rest in a natural position are usually very much specific to one hand or the other. Here at The Human Solution, we can’t keep you from getting stuck at the end of the dinner table, but we do have a number of options that will allow you to finally toss out your old mouse and replace it with one that will let you work in comfort.

The Humanscale Switch Mouse and the Smartfish Mouse are good choices for people who don’t want to stray too far from the standard mouse design to which they are accustomed. These can be used with either hand, which makes them a good choice for workstations that are used by more than one person. Many people also like having the option of switching from one hand to the other, because it reduces hand and forearm fatigue. The Penguin Vertical Mouse is another ambidextrous mouse, but instead of a standard shape, it vertical. Just the press of a button will change the direction of the scroll wheel so you can easily switch hands. This mouse comes in three different sizes, and is available in a wireless or wired version.

If you are looking for a dedicated left-hand mouse, we have a couple of options for you. Even better, both of these are the same prices as their right-handed counterparts! Our most popular mouse, the Evoluent Vertical Mouse, is also available in a left-handed version – the Evoluent Vertical Mouse 4: VM4L Left Hand Wired Mouse. This mouse supports your hand in a relaxed handshake position, promoting neutral wrist and forearm posture. The button positions are similar to standard mice, so there isn’t much of a learning curve. It also has six programmable buttons with 59 available functions, making this mouse highly customizable. The Handshoe Mouse also comes in a left-handed version and is available in three different sizes, all of which come in both wireless and wired versions. This low-force light click mouse cradles your hand and allows gripless movement.

The trackpad style MouseTrapper Advance Mouse and its smaller and wireless counterpart, the laptop and travel-friendly MouseTrapper Flexible Mouse, are two more options that will work equally well for anyone. This is the mouse that I have at my desk, and, although there was a slight learning curve of a day or two when I started using this mouse, it quickly became my favorite. The MouseTrapper Advance is the same length as my keyboard with a built-in numeric keypad, while the MouseTrapper Flexible is smaller and wireless.

Whatever your mouse needs, we can find something that will work for you. Give us a call at 800-531-3746, talk with one of our experts via chat, or fill out our mouse selector tool on our ergonomic mouse page.
